About
Welcome to SugarDo! I am thrilled out of my head that you are here. There are many, many…ok, one more…many To-Do list applications available for free on the Web. So why on earth does the world need yet another To-Do list? Well, for the same reason the world needed the Prius in addition to the Camry, Accord, Civic, and Yukon.
While Ta-Da List, Remember The Milk, VitaList, Todoist, and the others do many things very well, SugarDo has it’s place in that it does a couple of things better (IMHO) than the rest, and one thing that the others don’t do at all.
Why the ‘Do is SOooo Great:
Easy & powerful - if you go to Tadalist.com, you will note that they claim to be the “web’s easiest to-do list tool”. This was certainly true when they wrote that a couple of years back. That was before SugarDo came along. I invite you to compare for yourself. So, how is SugarDo even easier?
- Clean and simple lists…insanely intuitive
- Double-click items to edit (or select from popup menu)
- Drag-n-drop reordering without any extra clicks
- Single-click emailing of items or lists to yourself
- Two clicks to email items or lists to your contacts
- Simple Next Actions view within a list or across lists
- Click the star on an item to mark it for next actions
- Click the Next Actions (NA) link on a list page for NA’s within a list
- Click the Next Actions link on the My Lists page to see NA’s across lists
You said Powerful…what about Power?
- Share lists with friends and family…read-only or read & write
- Share lists publicly (read only)
- World’s easiest emailing of items and lists
- Simple Next Actions
- Today View - shows items that have been given a due date in a simple to-do list sort of way
- Zoom-in on items to create virtual Sub-Lists
- Archiving of completed items
SugarDo’s Super Powers - Where the ‘Do excels!
Two words: hierarchical lists. SugarDo is one of the few web based to-do list that enables you to create list items with sub-items (ad infinitum) in a tree hierarchy. Very similar to the Outlining feature in Microsoft Word, SugarDo lets you easily add sub-items.
While this may not stand up to a dogmatic rendering of the GTD system, it is extremely useful for organizing your to-do’s. It makes note taking dead simple. It allows you to create easy relationships among items. It is frankly the reason I created SugarDo…I needed the hierarchy. And I’ll be ecstatic if you find it a fraction as cool as I think it is ;-). I recently discovered Todoist.com also does hierarchies, so be sure to check them out. I am not afraid of a little head-to-head competition.
Glad You’re Here:
In the end, however, all of these on-line to-do list tools are just ways of organizing what you need to get done. They don’t do your to-do’s for you. Pick the one that meets your needs. I hope you find that SugarDo helps you get organized and brings a little of bit happy to your day! Thanks again for coming by and trying out the ‘Do.
Cheers!

For Developers: The Cry for Help!
While SugarDo is feature rich enough for 90% of the people on the planet who need a to-do list, there are some things that I’d like to add. If anyone is interested in seeing how far we can take SugarDo, I’m open to discussion. I have a really full-time day job and a lot of ideas about what else I’d like to happen at SugarDo. If you’re really interested, send me a note with some of your ideas, your experience with PHP and Javascript, widget building, iPhone app building, SMS, Google Calende/iCal integration, and generally anything you think would be meaningful. If you could point me to examples of your work, that would be very helpful as well. You can send an e mail to byron @ sugardo. com
